Providing safe effective, comprehensive care is one of the most important things we do as a health service. It’s also a great thing to discuss with our Accreditation assessors in August.
Whether you’re using the EMR or a hybrid model (paper-based and EMR), Accreditation gives us the opportunity to showcase the collaborative clinical work we do in caring for patients.
Showcasing how you use the EMR
We have created QRGs, which show you how the EMR facilitates comprehensive care. Assessors may ask you to show them a patient’s care in EMR – talk through the care plan and be proud of the care you give to your patients.
The ‘EMR and Comprehensive Care QRGs’ are available on the Accreditation website and have been created for medical, nursing and midwifery, pharmacy, allied health and administrative employees. You can directly access these documents below.
What if my team uses a hybrid model?
Remember, comprehensive care involves teams of health professionals working together and communicating effectively to plan, manage and coordinate care for patients, using all methods available to them.
If you work using the hybrid model (I.e. EMR and paper), be sure to showcase this to assessors. Talk about the systems you use, the processes you have in place and how they all work together to deliver patient-centred care and facilitate safe and informed decision-making.
To help you prepare, there are resources available for you to access on the EMR website about how to use the EMR in inpatient areas that also use paper documentation.
You can also directly access the resources below. View them on the EMR Website, print them out, discuss them with your teams and put them on your employee noticeboards.
Use the hybrid model resources to reinforce and embed our business-as-usual workflows to ensure you feel confident and comfortable conveying the great work you do to the assessors in August.
